Vista Center Internet Café

In recent years there have been many exciting developments of computer hardware and software to assist blind and visually impaired persons.

Through a donation, we have available two Pentium 4 computers with accessible software and hardware.

One computer is equipped with JAWS, a screen reading program.

The second computer is equipped with ZoomText, a magnification program which allows a person with low vision to have the screen enlarged from 2x to 16x or use its speech capability.

A scanner is attached to one of the computers which has software called OpenBook.  You can place your reading material on the scanner and have the item read aloud and displayed in large print.

You may bring in your mail and scan it to listen to or read more easily.  For privacy purposes there will be headphones provided for both computers.

A computer instructor will be onsite on designated days to provide guidance as needed.  If you are interested in the new Internet Café service, please contact Chris at 831-458-9766 for more information.
